Week 8: Social Media Marketing
What is Social Media Marketing?
Social media marketing is "the use of social media platforms on which users build social networks and share information to build company's band, increase sales and drive website traffic".
Pros and Cons of Social Media Marketing:
- Pros:
- Easy to use, with access to setup from many devices
- Allows for a great reach to the public for communication
- Allows for networking opportunities
- Cost effective (most platforms are free to use)
- Social apps reach precise target audiences
- Cons
- Privacy issues
- Time consuming practice
- Allows for negative reviews or comments
Although there are cons, there are definitely more pros to outweigh the cons. For example, below is an Instagram page of a local small business owner.
The image above is of the local small business owner's Saintly Looks Instagram page. I believe this is a great example for the setup on a social media webpage. There is good flow for navigation throughout the page. On top, there is an image of her logo and business name. There are also different groups of images that outline her business prices, how to book, aftercare, and business policy. She also has an aesthetically pleasing theme throughout the page, along with images of the work she does. This creates a perfect place for potential customers to look into the way her business works, while also being able to see what the potential outcome of the service being provided. Also, so far there seems to only be positive feedback on this platform for this business owner which is a great start to the social media marketing.
