Week 4: Online Marketing
Online Marketing
Over time, there has been a shift in platforms that have been used to advertise a business. With the several methods that can be used, it seems that now a days the most efficient platform to use are online platforms. Although online marketing is great it also has some downfalls.
Online Marketing Pros:
- Global reach to customers
- Online marketing is not confined to the limitations of a physical place. You can market to any part of the country without actually having to meet with prospects.
- Immediate measurable results
- Online marketing has measurable outcomes almost immediately. Every action can be tracked, including clicks, visits, sign-ups, and sales.
- Capability to track client preferences
- You can track previous purchases and preferences made by the consumer. This is useful for personalizing offers for customers.
Social Media Marketing Cons:
- Inaccessibility
- Internet services might not be available in rural areas. Also, non-tech savvy individuals would be a market that would be left out if marketing were to only be done online.
- Negative feedback
- Many people are more transparent of their feedback when it is online. They are often times able to give anonymous feedback, therefore feel they are unaccountable for negativity or rudeness.
- Constant trend changes
- Social media plays a big role in online marketing. With social media there are trends that very often change, thus having to keep up with the new trends.
